slick/drag radials

slick/drag radials
So If I plan on going to the track.. should you get regular slicks, or drag radials?
Slicks arnt street legal? correct?
Also, rims for them.. I upgraded to 20"s and I know those are not what I want to use to drag.. I still have the stock 17's.. are those wide enough to use? or should I get dedicated rims just for the track?

RE: slick/drag radials
You can only get slicks in 15" sizes so you eiether have to run a 17" bias-ply "cheater" slick like an ET Street or a drag radial like the ET Street drag radial in 275/40/17.
The bias-ply is built just like a slick from the same compound. It has a sidewall that is soft or wrinkle-walled. It has two treads cut in it to make it DOT legal so they can be used on the street or driven to the track. The drag radial has a stiff sidewall and will not get as good of hookup as the bias-ply.
The ET Street bias-ply is the best for straight line at the dragstrip between the two. Either one will fit on a stock bullet rimfor dragstrip application. I have used them for two years without any issue that way.
Oh if you want dedicated track rim 15" Bogart rims are the best option and those are 1600 for a set of 4 without rubber. Tire options for 15" rims are endless.
Definately ditch your giant wagon wheels for the track. Run stock 17" rims on front too if you decide to go with 17" rears. Do not run those ginormous 20s with 17s in back.

RE: slick/drag radials
Slicks for the track. Dr can be used on the streets, but will wear rather quickly if you daily drive them. Could use your stock 17s on the track and slicks in the rear. btw, your wheels in the sig look real good on a black car.
