RE: mods for auto x
Yep. Since its your first time auto-xing your car, i wouldnt worry too much about upgrades before you go. Even if you had your car fully set up, acura integras and honda civics will most likely kick your butt all day long. The best thing to have when autocrossing is experience, and the second best is probably tires. Good tires will hide some of your mistakes, so its best to learn on the stockers. Just have fun and try to learn as much as you can. If you want good autocrossing information, go into the handling section and talk to Sam Strano. He knows his autox.

From a seat of the pants feel tires would be worth 40% more handeling and struts 45% as above. Puma makes good racing shoes I highly recommend them.
Does that help?

Yep - "jahudso2" gave you the scoop on running in the F-Stock class. There are very few mods allowed, you can't even upgrade to SS brake lines for instance. Here is my list for F-Stock
- Get a CG-Lock - its a device that goes on you seatbelt and allows you to really crank down the lap belt (shoulder still free). Big bonus, keeps you from sliding all over
- Snell SA2005 helmet
- Koni sport adjustable dampers or Tokico D-specs
- Alignment - as much negative camber as you can get out of the stock suspension, something in the range of -1 - -1.5 negative camber and very slight toe in. Or, if its a weekend, fun only car, slight toe out (makes it a little 'darty' on the highway but great turn in)
- Turn off traction control
- I agree with the racing shoes - very thin soles allow you to 'feel' the car much better
- The stock brake pads work very well for autoX
Tires do indeed make a big difference if they are R-Comps or some of the tires used for street touring. But these tires are impractical on a daily driver, they wear too quickly. If you were to get serious about it, you'd get a 2nd set of rims and R-Comps. Otherwise, just run what you brung.
