Default pics of 275/40/18's on 8.5" rim

I was a little concerned about how much 275's would bulge on an 8.5 rim. I think I like the look.

What tires are those? I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Looks good though.

Sumitomo
HTRZIII
fronts are 245/45/18 and rears are 275/40/18

I really wanted 275/45/18's for the rear, but the choices were few and expensive!

I am going to do the same thing.
Are those OEM Polished Bullitts?
Any turning or rubbing issues?
Why did they not install them with
the red index mark next to the valve
stem location?

The guy I bought the tires from at NTB actually has 275/35/18's on his Camaro. I'm sure it's not an ideal set up, but probably not worst case scenario, either. I'm no expert, but I ran 275/40/17's on my 00GT with 8" wide wheels for quite a long time. They actually hooked up a little better at the track (dragstrip) than after I had the wheels widened to 10" and started running a 285/40/17. Perhaps it was just the brand of tire. I really didn't have many reservations about running the 275's on a 8.5" rim...just couldn't remember how much they would bulge. It has just enough bulge to give a little "dished" look without switching wheels out.

I didn't even notice where they put the red dots. They're stock "fan blades". No rubbing issues. I know there's another poster either on this forum or over at stangnet or S197forum.com that has these same wheels widened to 9.5", and he has no rubbing issues.

I may add a half 1/2" hubcentric spacer and longer studs just to move the wheels out a hair. I actually had 1" spacers on there and took them off. It just seemed the high offset wheels even with the fenders just didn't look good.
