I didn't really notice it till I put in my Hurst. I'm guessing that is just normal though.

If you pull up your console and place several layers of dynamat (available at your local car audio store or maybe even radio shack has something similar) over the shifter area/shifter hole you will notice a huge reduction in heat transferring up into the passenger compartment. I even placed some around where my parking brake is. Everywhere under there that doesn't have carpeting/insulation will radiate heat up.

And cut a couple of small pieces from what you have left and put between where the shift handle connects to the shifter. No more hot shift handle. You have to insulate those areas..

thats normal.. My other manual cars I'vehad in the past had a small amout of heat come up.. and 1 car, I didnt have a heater, so I ended up taking the boot off, as that shifter heat became my heater. LOL

It's normal.

I removed the upper console and installed the grey colored sound deadener, that's normally under auto carpet, over all the bare metal showing around the console area. It knocks down the heat and quiets down the area around the shifter very well.
