Default A Special ~THANK YOU~ to my FAVORITE moderator!!!!!

I recently had new gears installed on my car, and just got a new set of wheels and tires put on yesterday. While attempting to adjust my tuner for the new gears/wheels, it locked up and completely froze. It completely quit working and my car lost its custom tune. I was having codes come up like crazy and the check engine light was on.

I had no choice but to park it. All this time waiting for the new wheels and tires, new gears, final touchups completed by my bodyshop dude....only to have to park it once more. I was nauseous with doubt and worry!!!

This is where the point of my thread comes in......I tried multiple things to get it working: contactedDoug (not available--weekend), contacted SCT (not open--weekend), consulted the SCT website and followed the directions multiple times (no change in the tuner). I was so disheartened!

Ever since joining this forum I have found it to be a very invaluable resource to me. Today proved it to be again. Specifically Howarmat patiently listened to my problems (and whining) and went on a major research for me to help track down what the problem was. We not only found out what the issue was (a computer glitch that had been present on several of the earlier X3 SCT tuners), but he even found a way for me to fix the tuner!! I was able to reprogram the memory file and restore my preloaded tunes!! I lost my custom tunes, but I am sure Doug will send them to me again with no problems.

My thanks to you, Howarmat, for all of your help in getting me back on the road again ~ ! You have no idea what a happy camper I am now that the Skunkster is back and in full commission ~ !!!

Mine locked up as well. Luckily I was already on the tune I normally run.
You will be happy to know that since the reprogramming my X3 mine has behaved perfectly.

When you get copiesof yourcustom tunes make sure you back them up to your PC.
I assume you already have your stock tune backed up.

Howarmat is a very nice guy and goes above and beyond for the members in my opinion.

Doug will take care of you.

I might've missed it, but you didn't post new pictures of your ride, did you?

I wanna see those 20's you've been talking about for months [8D], and the pink calipers (you posted close-ups), but we want pictures of the whole car.

And btw, what gear ratio did you go with? How do you like it?

By the way i added this solution from the SCT Forums to the FAQ post as it is very common it seems for the early SCT tuners. They can load the tunes initially but it seems to crap out after they try to load again and such.

Gene makes another very good point. When you order your tuner from Brenspeed, Bama or anywehere else. Always have them email the tunes to you also. That way if you ever lose them you can always get them reloaded. Diablo has a nice "feature" where you return to stock and it loses all the custom tunes. So this is vital for those that return there car to stock before trips to the dealer.

Enjoy the forums everyone! I am glad I could help you out saddle! No one wants to be without their stang in the spring tiime even for a day!

Oh,oh!

There are more bonus points to be made if you can help her out with her wheels.
It's taking awfully long[&:].

Nope....you didn't miss any pictures.....I'm going to post a whole bunch of them very soon~!

The new wheels and tires are on and I must say....it really changed the look of the car~!

I'm just waiting until I get her all shined up and polished for some really good pictures to share...

I went with the 3.73 gears. I can tell a difference, even in the way it sounds.

I'm just so happy she's back on the road.......it's been a lonnnnng winter.
