Weird engine noise after CAI install.

RE: Weird engine noise after CAI install.
Plus if you are using gas stations that only have one hose for all 3 octanes and you are filling up your tank when it still has a lot of gas left in it, you can end up getting a lot of leftover 89 from the person in before you in the line mixed in with your 93 or whatever. If you are getting the 89 mixed in, and the gas isnt top quality, you get the pinging.

When i had my 07' GT,I still had some 89 octane in the tank and loaded a Brenspeed 93 octane tune and figured i would drive down to the station for a refill.Damn if I didn't lean on it some and got a godawful pinging!Didn't think it would be as bad as it was but yeooow,What a noise! After a few easy miles with a tank of 93 the noise obviously went away.Could be a batch of crappy gas.91 octane tune is safer if you have any doubts about the station you got your gas at.

My brother has a 06 GT, car has been running great, we love driving it. We decided to get a JLT CAI and SCT tune, however after installing it, at WOT we heard a very weird noise coming from the intake area. It sounds like a rattle kinda, liek a loose bracket vibrating, or maybe like a loose exaust clamp. It only does it at high rpms under load only, around 4500-6000 come off and on during that range. It also gets worse on hot weather, and when engine is fully warmed up. I know most of you are gonna say pinging, but its hard to believe pinging sounding like that. Any body get this noise from a JLT intake with SCT tune?
thanx

RE: Weird engine noise after CAI install.
Tanker trucks have multiple compartments for each octane. Also each station has different tanks for each octane. Most stations these days only have an 87 and 93 (or 91, whatever the highest octane they carry is) tank and use a "mixer" to create the 89.
