Anyone own or drive a G37, how does it compare to a S197?

Cartel, if you go to an Infiniti website and ask them to compare their cars to BMWs, they will all pick the Infinity. He has to ask the question here to get a more unbiased opinion. Plus he wants to know if anyone has both a S197 and a G37 or whatever other car to see how they compare. He doesnt want to go to a G37 and then hate it because the S197 had something that was a lot better (like exhaust note.)

I am really surprised at how many people talk about the "break neck" factor. In Vancouver there are a zillion S197 GT's. And they get overshadowed by C6's. And so on. And the 335i isn't as nice looking as the recently dispatched 3.2L M3. It's not a car you look at and cream your jeans. To me it lookslike utilitarian performance that hasn't changed a whole lot in a long time.Looks are subjective but I think the G37 is slick both inside, outside, and under the hood. Like all the others have said, drive them and decide which caters to your needs/wants the best. That turbo inline 6 is good but it's not the second coming of Christ. I know plenty of well respected gearheads that share my view on the G37. Drive one...

Sticker price on my GT/CS Vert was 37500, so I hold my head up high when I roll up next to those cars with my Stingers rumbling...My American V8 muscle makes up for anywhere else it may be lacking....JMHO

What about the G37 S instead of just a G37. I think those things pack some extra punch over a standard G37.
I know this guy with one and its pretty quick.
