I've got the 93 Race Bama and going strong. Screw gas prices!

Tried a lower octane tune that I have from Brenspeed and quickly realized the money I saved on getting better gas mileage was better than the economy octane tune with less gas mileage.

The savings to me is so minimal I don't see a justification in it. But instead I am looking for a cheaper DD. Maybe a Geo Metro... Wahoo!!!

I can't see paying 25k or more for a car that is not a DD! Store in winter, sure.

I agree and my car has been my DD since I have owned it. But with the gas the way it is... Sorry, it's going to be a limited driver..

Oddly enough I've actually done the opposite. I have used regular since day one and just for the heck of it I filled it up with 93 a few weeks ago. First off I'm paying more for diesel in my truck so even high octane gas looks like a bargain. Secondly, I actually let the tank get down below 1/4 which I never do so I thought it would be the opportune time since it would be the closest thing to a complete fill-up. The result: I was shocked to be floating steadily between 24 and 25 MPG. I normaly get say 22 maybe, 23 at best, and maybe 19 at the worst (engine is stock). Is the extra 2 MPG worth it? After all, whats the difference in price? 40 cents? I think we have 16 gallon tanks so thats an extra 6 bucks at fill-up. But an extra 2 miles per gallon is 32 extra miles. Feel free to correct me if my math is off. Another thing, around here the 93 is only available at Sunoco. Everyone elses best grade is 91. Do your tunes specifically call for 93? In closing, I think its going to get to the point where no one will be able to even afford to drive to work, so we might as well enjoy it while we can.

Thanks for doing the math and maybe it's time I go back to the 87 tune.

I don't notice any mpg difference between octanes, nor doI notice any mpg difference between stock and bama tunes.

As for price, $.20 difference between 87 and 93 octane. That's about $120/year assuming 12,000 miles driven and 20 mpg average. Worth it, IMO.
