they made it through the 40 some inches of snow and ice plussand and gravel herein iowa this winter...still look good....don't know if my style is what you're talkin bout though...pry not since ur gt cats, but same idea...sand just to scuff up the paint, spray em, clear, and you're done...i can give more detailed instructions - there's been quite a few ?s in the 4.0 section

If you want to change the color I would get the powdercoated if possible. I know a guy, strips and coats for $85 a wheel up to 20"s. Comes out great.
In the long run you will be happier going this way than to DIY way. Unless they are just for the track or something then I say Krylon FTW.
