brendend

i was doing my oil today and since i was under the car i figured id check all the exhaust hangers to try and find a loose one to find the rattle. so as i make my way upto the front of my car something about the cats catch my eye. there is about a 3/4 inch to a 1 inch piece of metal about 1/2 inch smaller then the rest of the pipe from cats back. whats the point in this? im going to be changing it soon but it just bothers me.
