Cai's...

I dont read about too many people using K&N CAI's.... But I was looking at the Steeda CAI with the tune for almost $800... and it says you gain 35-40 hp.... Well K&N Advertises that you have a 53 HP gain....... arent K&N cheaper too???

If they have a 13+ HP gain, why doesnt everyone use them?

Most stick with C&L or JLT. They seem to produce the best results...Mike

$800? Who's ripping you off for that? Brenspeed sells the various combos in the $500 and $600 range.

ALL of the CAI and tune combo's are equivalent in performance. The CAI alone may only net you about 3-5 RWHP regardless what the manufacture may say. It's the tune that adds the real kick. Expect anywhere from 15-30 RWHP gain with a combo, depending on the tune. Use the search feature.

indeed, however if you want the one with the most power gains, get the western motorsports one. i have it, it looks great and i think it was modified mustangs did a test on the top like 16 cai's and the wms one beat them all. and they didnt just do hp tests, they actually went on the track and tested quarter mile times.

No offense, but i love how everybody says THEY have the best CAI, whether it be JLT or C&l or WMS. All the CAIs are basically going to perform the same within a few HP and a couple of lbs of torque. My guess is it wont be the same winner everytime either. Same with the track, to many variables for a .1 difference.

In all fairness the CAI isnt what anyone should focus on, its the tune. Stay away from the canned SCT and Diablo tunes. They do not perform anywhere close to that of a Bama, Brenspeed or VMP tune. I have run all three and the canned diablos and i assure you they arent even close. Get a CAI cause you like the looks or becuase it will fit a future supercharger purchase.

+1 on what Howarmat said. Buy the CAI for looks and worry about who your buying a tune from. I bought the less expensive BBK w/ Breenspeed tune. Coupled with a Steeda CMCV I'm making 300 to the wheels. You do NOT have to buy the most expensive CAI.

I just got the Steeda CAI and SCT3 with tune, and yes it was a gain, but by my "Seat of the pants Dyno" there is no way it was 35 - 40 hp....it was a nice gain, and its nice to hear that intake just a suckin in air when I go WFO, but 40 hp....dont think so....
