Default trading my 01 Trans Am for a 05 Mustang?

I really never was a fan of the Mustang until the 05 came out. Car is just absoutely stunning!!! I really like the black GT with red interior if someone has pics please post them. Will 275s in the front and 295s in the rear fit on a 05 Mustang. I really would like to keep the Boyds I have on my Trans Am. Does anyone know if the bolt pattern is the same?

Hi tranzam01,

You will LOVE the '05 Mustang GT's! We had '00, '01 and '02 WS6 TA's with several WS6 TA pool cars while our own car was in the shop. The thing is, they were in the shop a LOT. One of our WS6 TA's LS1 alloy engine welded itself into a sold block of alumium, a victim of a marginal oil pump and poor inspection during production. This caused the engine to eventually spin a bearing. GM hand built up a completely new engine from intake to oil pan, crated it up and sent it for installation in our car at the dealership. This new engine was the best LS1 we ever had but we had to give up the car at the end of the year for a new WS6 TA. It was so good I almost bought this one!

We order a new Pontiac vehicle every year and when the WS6 TA's came out we jumped on it hard. The LS1 engines were wonderful but the ancient "F" body was just not good enough to allow it to shine. We had hoped that Chevy and Pontiac would get a new GM chassis to replace the horid "F" but instead they killed the cars as you know.

Anyway the '05 GT's chassis is MUCH more rigid and the suspension acutally gets to work instead of the the F body's chassis flex being the main form of suspension. The '05 Mustang GT's are much quieter and ride much better than any of the WS6 cars we drove (and we drove a LOT of them), the GT's are much more tossable and are easier to drive quickly and visability is much better too.

You may also consider the new for '05 GTO, it's a fantastic car, not like the '04's which were down 50HP and had weak brakes for this heavy car. If you can get past the very boring shape and simple Pontiac identity tack-ons the car is brilliant, okay, brilliant for a GM product anyway. The new GTO is sort of a very nice largish European sports coupe meets BIG (400HP), American LS2 V-8 power. It's very flexible in traffic but it needs to be with that nasty shifter in the 6-speed manual GTO's. But that said the M6 is THE way to go in the new '05 GTO.

Check out the '05 GTO's, like I said if you can get past the looks they are great cars, BETTER then the '05 Mustang GTs and you can buy them for about the same as you can buy an '05 Mustang GT. BUT the '05 GTO's are boring looking and great to drive whereas the '05 Mustang GT's are great looking and great driving but with not quite as much content. I picked an '05 GT, you might just join us here as an owner too.

Hi tranzam01,

I forgot to say that we driven both the '04 GTO and '05 GTO's quiet a bit as there are some spare cars in the company car pool. It seems that I can borrow one most any time because the people that ordered the GTO's as their regular cars for the year frequently find that they don't really like them as much as they though as dail drivers. The usual complaint is hard riding, hard seats and hard shifting. Nobody at the company cares about the GTO's fuel milage because gas is free. So these folks will leave them at the office whenever possible to borrow one of the spare Montana minivans or Surburbans when they are traveling or going to be hauling people around.

Don't get me wrong, the GTO is agreat driving car but it's styling is so bpland and invisible that even a dedcated car freak can't usually see them on their car radar. This is a 180 from the '05 Mustang GT which even in black is a fresh looking standout body form. People always notice the new GT's on the street and freeways even here in SoCal the capitol of the car crazies of the world. Even the crazeist over the top looking ricers don't have a chance here in SoCal.

HTH

I feel your pain. I used to have a 1995 white T-Am I loved her. I traded her in on a 2002 Sebring Vert then traded her in for a 2005 Toyota Solora Vert ..... I just gave up the Toyota her a 2005 Mustang GT Vert. I love the Mustang but out of all the cars a still love and miss the T-AM. She had some major power!!!!
