I hate the love bugs! Cover the front of cars... But I doubt dead bugs would make your car feel gritty. And I think you would have noticed a million dead bugs on the front of your car... haha

I'd guess it's fallout from the tree..
No amount of wax will keep it from sticking. You just have to either not park under it or wash your car daily.

ya thats what i have always experienced, and it was doing well for a few days.. and then, like night and day, it went from baby bottom smooth to 80 gritt sand paper.. you could probably file your nails on it.. lol (not really)
but i think it MIGHHT be the tree i park under at home.. and im htinking with rain or something maybe its leaking sh.it all over my hood.. so now im parking on the side of the driveway, FAR AWAY from the damn tree..
but the truck thing is also a possibilty.. ACTUALLY.. now that i htink of it.. i was in down town orlando parked under some stupidly big oak trees, but only for like an hr. and half.. but i think maybe following a truck with crap in the back might be the cause..

If you drive in a lot of traffic, it could be from brake dust. My wifes car had tons of grit in the paint, so I did some research on what causes it. Brake dust and rail dust (cars are transported on trains) are two causes of grit in the paint. The hot metal particles actually metal into the clear coat, which is why you need a clay bar to remove them.
I used the meguiars clay bay and it works like magic.
If you work at a train station, then you're screwed!

Yeah, without a doubt it's tree sap. I have had the same problem. Check your paint after letting it set, for instance at work and at home. You find that certain trees sap like a mug.
