RE: Painted Radiator Cover today--PICS
Looks nice. Where did those extensions come from? Those really clean things up...
Also, could you be more descriptive on what you did and how you did it. I found kits on paintscratch.com but
am a rank newbie to painting..
Thanks in advance!

RE: Painted Radiator Cover today--PICS
I got the extensions from Midwest Autogear. You can get them prepainted but i got black b/c 1)they were less$$. 2) I knew i would never match them perfectly. So this way I painted everything at once, and that "Sparkle" from Duplicolor looks sick in the sun.
I got the paint from Paintscratch.com. Just go to theit site select your year, make, model. Next page, select color. Then click "proceed to secure order page". Then under "select paint kit", choose "spray can kit w/ primer (non metal)". Then enter your VIN number to be sure exact paint match. Total cost is about $76. This incudes everything you could need and more.
This is the process. 1)Sanded parts lightly with a fine sandpaper. Then cleaned with supplied cleaner. Then 2 coats of bulldog, 2 coats of primer, 3-4 coats of base coat (depending on how heavy each coat is), 2 coats of Sparkle (bought at PepBoys), 3 coats of clear. I let it bake in the sun for 1 hour at the end.
They give you a bottle of liquid compound. This is to compound the last coat of clear to make it shine better but I found it just dulls it out and leaves a white residue. So I would not use it (just delete it from your order). I did use a coat of TW ICE polish later that night just for some more shine and protection, and i don't have to worry about that drying white either.
