I live in Korea and took to the local Ford dealership. They charged $70 for the front and $90 for the rear even though I thought it would have been reverse since the front takes more work. I just didn't have the time to do it myself. I put in FRPP springs. Plus had realignment done...car is 3 years old. Makes car look a lot better, but stiff ride. Sorry no pics yet. I am sure you could it done for a couple of six packs if you cannot do it yourself.

I guess if you have no job and all the tools you need then yes, you could call it free.

If you have a job, the 3 hours it takes will be whatever your hourly income is times 3.
Add the cost of a floor jack, jack stands, rental for the spring compressors, and any other tools you don't have.

Doesn't sound free anymore does it?

Plus your own work won't be warranteed!

Maybe instead of misguided "it's free" advice you could offer to help someone on a job! Maybe make some money!

Unless you are taking three hours off from work, then you should not count your wage.
I never include the price of general tools, that I could use for many different projects.
So that leaves us with the spring compressor, I'm figuring about 10 to 15 to rent for day.
Not free but darn close, and I for one do it cause I like it, and if I had to pay for install on all parts,
I could not afford as many, as labor is not cheap.

If you buy those things then you can do more of your car work in the future.

Im annoyed by all the pansies in here. Unless youre building an engine I think you should figure it out and do it yourself. Be a man and stop taking your car to a dealership and getting screwed like our women do. Do it on a day off and have fun figuring out how to do it yourself.

Do you have to remove the rear tires to remove install the rears? Also, what jacking point do you use in the rear? You guys jacking from the diff or somewhere else?

I "rented" the spring compressors from Autozone. They basically sold them to me and returned them for full price when I was done. I guess that's how they do it here. So it didn't cost me anything to rent them.

Three hours of my time at my job is $81. I wouldn't be able to find a shop to do the front and rears for under $100.

You don't even need a spring compressor to do the fronts. Get the car high enough
and support the lower control arm (where the bottom of the shock mounts) with a
floor jack. Take off the the big nut that holds the shock to the upper mount and leave
the 4 small nuts alone. Then slowly lower the jack to release the spring tension.I saw
it done on horsepower tv when they did the GT to Roush conversion. I watched it numerous
times and it looks simple.
