Default CDC GT500 Dead Pedal Install Question

Has anyone had a problem getting the bolt loose for the CDC GT500 Dead Pedal? I have tried several times to get it loose and now it appears that the head is stripped... Doh! I have tried using a 13mm socket, universal socket, even the ratcheting tool for stripped bolts from Sears to no avail. Anyone got an idea on how to loosen this bolt?

Also, I would like to replace this bolt once it is loosened. Can it be removed? What is it securing?

Thanks,

Yes, said bolt is a total PIA.....I could not even get a socket on the bolt. I believe I used and open end, and it was an SAE as opposed to metric..can't remember the size. The other problem I had was, that once this bolt broke loose, it spun, as if whatever it bolted to was turning. Had to keep pressure on the bolt with a screwdriver while loosening and tightening. Still have not found out what it threads to.....

OK, like Mike said...its a PIA (nice new acronym there Mike)...I did use a 13mm socket to get it out, but ended using a 13mm open end to tighten up and it was tough. The positioning of the bolt once the dead pedal is on makes it hellish to reinstall. Dont have an answer on what to do once the bolt is worn out..
