Is it bad to wax every weekend?

RE: Is it bad to wax every weekend?
And do you have a silver Mustang?
Really not needed!
You could let a silver car go for a year and it wouldn't look much different!
Byt seriously,
instead of washing and waxing it, get a good cover and a duster, then some microfiber towels. After getting home, give the car a thorough dusting and hit any dirty areas with detail spray and the MF towels. The windshield and rear window get really dust covered and what you are trying to do is get as much dust and dirt off the car. If you do that then you can put the cover onto a clean car, which reduces the chances of scratching your clearcoat.
You can't really scratch or remove your paint, since it's covered by a layer of clearcoat. Not like the old days when the pad you used to wax a car would turn the same color as the car!
You should also detail the wheels last and then get a new towel for next time.

+1 on the spray detailer. Go to your locak automotive paint store and buy the gallon size container of Meguiars #34 Final Inspection. You won't regret it. Keeps your wax job looking brand new. Dirt and grime will be much easier to get off. I've been using the stuff since 1993 and can't find anything bad to say about it.

I would think it depends on the type of polish/wax you are using. If a cleaner/wax or all-in-one type deal, might show some wear over long term. If you're just slapping some sealant/carnuba on there, most likely no big deal.

my neighbor is a old man with a 1990 chevy show truck, 1994 clean catty, and a 2005 corvette... all of his cars stay under the carport, and are in perfect condition. None of them have ever been waxed once. He swears against it. I check his cars out all the time, they are like new. With that said... my mustang stays under the carport, only used on weekends, never been waxed in 16 months.... looks as good as any mustang.

Good rule of thumb... when you wet your vehicle and the spots of water become larger then a quarter then it's time for a coat of wax.
1.) clearcoat is tough stuff. you can wax it everyday and it won't hurt it it's just a complete waste of time.
2.) always make sure your car is 100% clean before you start.
3.) use at least two towels to remove wax turning the towel frequently and make sure your applicator is 100% free from any dirt or foreign matter.
4.) when washing use very little (if any soap) Soap is your waxes enemy. Wash and wax style soaps work better at preserving wax but in realiy they contain a drying agent that helps to sheet the water off of the car better and they wreck havoc on windshields and wiper blades.
5.) color sanding....?? Hey man the 60's called and they want thier single stage paint back...and you own a vette?? scary.

OK, so after I get my car washed, what should I then do to keep it looking good. I'm not looking to spend a whole day on it but if there is something I can wipe it down with to keep it shiny I'm all for it. My car is black and withing a bout 3 hours of getting it washed it starts to look dirty again, especially with all the pollen. If I'd known there was going to be so much pollen, I would have bought a yellow car!

generator and all the dust and pollen will be repelled.
Overwaxing even a slightly dirty or dusty car will cause scratch marks over time.
Ifshe is100% eat offher clean EVERY time you wax her, its not bad.
I have never heard of waxy buildup over time.
