4.10's -vs- N20 wet kit... which is most bang for buck?
hey guys..
hit the track again tonight.. but the conditions were crap.. slippery and hot as hell.. best run was a 13.66 and my 60 ft was a 2.19... (both in different runs)
so i was thinkng.. (i have stock 3.31's by the way..)... which would be better as far as making better numbers..
spend about $500-600 on a regear and go with 4.10's?
or
i have always been stray from n20, but i have been thinking what a benefit it would be to just have that extra HP when i need/want it.. (except for on the street i guess).. but that would also mean i can maintain my mileage and interstate speed RPM..
my current mods that you need to know about are:
-Hurst Comp Shifter
-Nitto NT555r 295/45/18 Rears
-C&L Racer CAI
-SCT X-CAL ll
-VMP 93 perf. Dyno Tuned (@291 RWHP and 311 RWTQ as of June 2007) (tuned before i had any of the exhaust done)
-SLP Modular High Flow Catted X-Pipe
-QTP Cutouts
-Pypes Mid Mufflers
and some steeda UDP's being picked up this weekend to put on..
i dunno.. what do you guys think? pr what would you do.. gears over N20?... or N20 over gears?.. also.. does anyone have a link to a good thread with info on nitrous, set ups, etc
thanks

RE: 4.10's -vs- N20 wet kit... which is most bang for buck?
4.10's are nice, but nitrous will get you a better ET (150-200 shot). 3.31's arepretty wimpy and the 3.55's are crap compared to 4.10's. N2O comes with other problems (tune, plugs, detonation, blown motor), butif youhave the dough$$$ a cracked intake manifold or block is justwhat you pay to play with the juice.
I had the same ??? and went with 4.10's because they won't harm your motor is you f-up, and you can always add N2O.
BTW, I got 4.10's and get stock gas mileage with my other addons.

150-200 shot.....how bout starting with 75-125 maybe

Too equal 4.10's on a track thats what he would need to equal the ET.
bestguess...

That ain't gonna do much but yeah you could do that too. I was talking much lowerET's, in the 12's with his mods.

A thing to consider is you get the benefits of the gears all the time.....not so with the nitrous. But for the track....the nitrous will blow away the gears IMO

4.10s might knock a couple tenths of the 1/4.......a 100 shot might knock .6-1 full second off the times, certainly more than the gears will

4.10's got me .3-4 real world at the track (other factors did apply, likeI drive better now) .
The bottom line is I agree with your last post (just notthe times exactly).
Soin sumation N20=more power, risk, and greatET drop .2-1.0 depending on shot, short term... 4.10's=less risk and substantial ET drop, always on.

hmmm.. good replys/comments..
i dont really want to play with nitrous for the reason of playing russian roulette with the motor.. i dont know that i would go over liek a 100 shot.. i guess i would need a new tune, and load it everytime i go to the track, and what about plugs..
