Need Your Opinion On A New Rear End.
Hello,
Im new to the forums (posting at least, i have been lurking for a while now) and i noticed that you all know these cars extremely well. Well i have a question to ask. Due to unfortunate events i am getting to replace my entire rear axle assembly. I was wondering what kind of set up i should order for my car. I am open to all available configurations right now, just has to be very street friendly. I have only been to the track in this car once and i didnt even run it =). I am hoping to have a car that i can run soon. Right now as my car sits these are all the modifications:
2007 Mustang GT Manual 5 Spd
3.55 Gears from the Factory
Whipple HO Kit at 10 PSI
Saleen Suspension kit
Saleen short throw
Saleen full bodykit
Saleen Exhaust
Stock Wheels and tires (but getting Saleen 20's hopefully soon)
Now the insurance has given me a decent number that i can spend and build up to. I was thinking of the following configurations tell me what you guys think:
- All Stock replacement with either 3.55, 3.73, or 4.10 (ive been told its good enough)
- Stock replacement rear with detroit tru trac and 3.55 or 3.73 or 4.10 gears
- Currie 9" Rear end replacement ( i also wanted to know what would go into this if i chose to do this, do i have to swap drive shafts or anything like that?)
- Any good configuration you can think of
Please let me know as i have been without a vehicle for quite some time and would like to get this resolved.

thanks for the warm welcome. Your discussion of the whipple was one of the reasons i got it over the KB and saleen (as you can see saleen is a theme on my car)

Honestly the stock 8.8 housing will be fine you can upgrade the diff and axles if you want but you don't need an aftermarket housing. I would talk to griggsracing out at infineon. http://www.griggsracing.com/index.php/cPath/10_1025. They will be able to build you up a 8.8/9" hybrid.

Sounds like your set up is around 440-460 RWHP? if so then the stock rear end with better axles will be just fine. I would go with 3.73 if you do alot of highway cruizing and 4.10 if not.

i am just figuring if it will be paid for by insurance (or for the most part) why wouldnt i want to go with the 9
Also with the mods i have would you go with 3.73 or 4.10

Stock 8.8, Tru Trac Diff, Moser 31 Splin Axles, and T/A Rear Girdle and gear's of your choice
There are so many 8.8's runnings 9's there is no reason why you would have to upgrade to a currie 9 inch.

okay i have done my homework and it looks like im gonna do the stock 8.8 housing with a tru trac diff.
However i am still trying to decide between frpp 3.73 or 4.10
Not a huge highway driver, but do have to take long trips every once in a while. I like the idea of faster takeoffs with the 4.10 but people have been telling me i will just spin the back all the way through first with the whipple doin work.
