Electronic Throttle Light - Something to worry about?

This morning as I dropped off my daughter at school, the wrench light and check engine lights came on and my car suddenly started to drag and throttle response was abysmal. When I stopped at the school and restarted the car, no more throttle problems, but the check engine stayed on. I'm 1000 miles away from my 15K mile service, so I figured that the check engine light was on for that. On the drive home, I had two stops to make. Before each stop of the engine, I had the same problem occurwith the throttle light and the response (rpms would also be higher and sometimes flutter at the low end). When I cranked her back up, the light and problem went away until a few minutes later. I noticed that it would start whenever I approached my first stop after cruising for a bit at 35+ mph.

I've got an appointment at the dealer tomorrow morning to check it out and just get my 15K service out of the way. Is this throttle issue something that could be serious/costly? Anyone else run into the problem?

I've had the car since 12/06, no issues until now. Only mods are those listed in my sig and the duals and K&N filter have been on for 6 months.

Thanks in advance!

Could it be the throttle body going out? Light wouldn't be coming on just to remind you of the upcoming service. Is there an autozone near you? Where you can run a free obd port scan of your thrown codes?

I had what you described happen to me, sounds exactly the same. Ended up being a cracked throttle body, dealer replaced it under warranty.

Well, I'm on month 17 of ownership and 13,977 miles, so I'm assuming I should still be covered under warranty. Is the throttle body an expensive piece on the off chance they say I'm not covered?

I don't know how much it costs, but knowing the dealerships probably not cheap. If it is the throttle body it should be covered.

$350....its covered though, no worrie

and yes anytime the wrench light comes on there is a problem......especially if it keep coming on. Whip out the manual and read up immediately cause you can do some damage to thngs when you ignore stuff like that

Thanks for the replies guys - that's why I love this place - everyone is awesome when it comes to giving feedback and assistance!

I noticed in my initial searches, that there are aftermarket throttle bodies (BBK seems to be popular). Is that a mod that is worth looking into? They seem to claim a bit more responsiveness in the driving and up to 10 more HP. If the dealer offers it as an upgrade to replacing my TB with another stock TB (if that is even possible), is it worth it? If I put on an aftermarket TB later, would I need to retune the car? Does it replace warranty? Sorry so many questions, but just came across this and was curious.....

for the GTs the aftermarket TBs have been little gains and various problems....dont know about the sixxers as you have a completely different setup
