Default Cancel Extended Warranty?

Can someone give me the procedure on canceling my extended warranty and getting the money back? Do I just call up the dealership and cancel?

just doing this myself, yes you would call the dealer and they would cancel the warrenty, however, many dealers are not eager to give it up. if your dealer is not going easy, call this number. (this is assuming you bought the warrenty throught the dealer and they are still in business) 1-800-521-4144.

I doubt its bumper to bumper. Lots of fine print in those extended warranties. I bought an 08 3 weeks ago and the dealer tried his best to sell me the extended warranty but I didn't buy it. Too many loop holes.

Thanks. Do I need the paperwork or just my name?

I bought the car 12/06 and I only have 8000 miles on it. At this rate I'll only have 30,000 miles after 5 years.

I've done it...take a letter to the dealer with your name and policy number requesting it be cancelled. You will have to sign a form at the dealership, the refund check will be issued to the selling dealer and they will write you the checkafter they get it. You'll be surprised at how much you get back, especially if you have not used it, ask for a copy of the check the insurance company sent for your records.

If its done within the first 30 days, you can cancel.
Read the fine print on your contract for the guarantee clause.
The dealership will need to note your Odometer and get the
ball rolling on the cancellation. There could also be a prorating
for the milage traveled during the time the policy was active.
I got $1800 back that I was duped out of.

And the factory warranty will end in 3 years, no matter how few miles you have on the car. I think your situation is the ideal one in which to have an extended warranty. I buy extended warranties on any vehicle that I plan to keep beyond the end of the factory warranty.

Just make sure you have a Ford extended warranty that mirrors the factory warranty. I have a Chrysler Services Contract that extends the factory bumper to bumper warranty to 7 years and 70,000 miles on my Jeep Grand Cherokee that has already paid for itself and it hastwo years remaining. If I plan to keep my Mustang beyond three years I'll buy one for it, too.

cash that warranty in!
I did mine after 6 months. What is the point in the extended warranty? Two years and I have never had anything break yet.

If you mod your car it is really pointless anyways, they will look for any excuse to not pay.
Besides the factory warranty is 3/36k bumber and 5/60k drivetrain.

I have been concidering canceling mine as well, but I have already used to replace a sidewall punctured tired at 2,000 miles.
I have Easy Care Gold or something like that.
