Default My dealership sucks!

Took my car car in for warranty work thursday for an airbag light that comes and goes. I told them the lamp flashes a code 12 cause they wouldn't be able to make the light come on. The computer stores a b1342 code. If my dealership took the time to listen to what i said then looked it up in the diagnostic manual they would have found the fix is to replace the control module.

30 minutes after i drop my car off i get a phone call saying my car is ready. Knowingthe problem wasn'tfixedi asked what they did and they said they reprogrammed the computer for a recall they had. The service manager then told me this is a common problem and the recall is supposed to fix it. Tonight my airbag light came back on which i was expecting and now i have to take my car back to the dealership. Is anybody elses airbag light flashing a code 12?

The symptomes for the airbag recall "flashing airbag warning light" and the broken control module issue, are the same except for the diagnostic system recognizing the broken module.

They obviously didn't check the codes.

sorry, but all American manufacturer's dealerships have orders to not do any work if they can't duplicate the problem. That means that unless they see the Airbag light come on, they won't fix it the right way.

+1 Orion is absolutely correct. The fact that there is a recall and your light was not on only made it worse. The tech is instructed to perform the recall and release the vehicle without even checking codes. Sorry, but that is Ford's decision.

We had alot of problems with a recall on the DPFE sensor. Replace the sensor and release the vehicle. If the light then comes back on, the tech could then resume normal diagnostic procedures. Many unhappy customers over that one.

If they chased all customer diagnostic leads,
they would not make any $$. They fix
problems they can see and nothing else.
If they pulled your DTCs and found more
than they were looking for, then what?
Not defending stealerships, just what I have
experienced over the years. Known a few
Ford Techs also but before I owned a Ford. [&o]
Make then pay for your fuel getting back to
the stealership and then home again.
90% of stealerships suck 90% of the time. [:'(]

If the dealership won't fix my car unless they can duplicate the problem how am i supposed to to get it fixed? The light only comes on after one hour of driving. After the car is shut off then restarted the light won't come on for another hour. The compter stores a code, but the light goes out. Is there any way to warranty the part without the dealership doing the work?
