K&N cold air intake no tune thoughts...
I found a used intake for 100 bucks, it requires no tune so i'm considering it. I can't afford to buy a tuner, so it's not really an option. So what do people think of this intake? If i put it on with no tune will it hurt my car in any way, like lean it out? It says on the website that you don't need a tune so i guess they know what they are talking about, and up to 15HP, even if i get half of that i would be happy. Plus maybe better gas milege, and hopefully my engine runs better. Lots of you will probably say buy this or buy that but i can't afford too much right now, and deffinately can't afford a tuner, so its basically thisor keep it stock. Thanks for all your thoughts. Jord

had it when I didn't have a tuner and enjoyed it, then changed over to the JLT and diablo

joo, this is what im talkin bout foo[8D]
it was like 100 bucks new, im selling it for 50 cause i got a JLT and a tuner. btw, the JLT build quality, fit, and how its mounted is actually much worse than this one.

cause the JLT makes more power (larger piping and MAF housing), if i had to do it over again i woulda held out and scored a C&L i think.
what got me was the JLT's cheap plastic heat shield that fit crappy and only had one bolt that i could see to mount it. the actual intake tube has no bracketry, and where the MAF sensor mounts it wasnt a nice flat surface (when you tighten the MAF screws the sensor started to bend and i had to stop tightening it).
the "ebay" K&N intake had a bracket that used two valve cover bolts to support the intake tube, and the heat shield (that was metal and came with weatherstripping) also had brackets to bolt down in two places. it also came with the PCV silicon tubing and a nicer looking elbow. IMO the only build quality plus from the JLT was the actual filter, but there was nothing wrong with the cheap intake's filter either.
