Guttless !!!!

Well I have now had my '05 convertible for 10 days and put over 1000 miles on it so far. The couple of small complaints I have are to do with some little rattles @ 40 MPH and 2K RPM's I need to have that looked at....

My biggest complaint is that it is GUTLLESS when on the Frwy goin about 65-70MPH, and I punsh it, it goes NOWHERE. Granted I have the 5spd Automatic, and the added 170Lbs with the convertible... [&:]

But I'll tell you something, my stock 1986 GT convertible with Automatic Hauled Ass compared to this ride. I love the car, but i am afrait to mess with any of these jealous buggers who pull up next to me wanting to race.

Any thought on the comparison? What inexpensive mods can i think of doing???? I don't want to trick my car out or anything, I JUST WANT IT TO RESPOND..... [:@]

Cheers

Brian

I had the same issue...

Try turning your overdrive off.

Or changing your gears (I'm planning on using the 4.10's).

I have a GT vert but it's a manual. In 4th at those speeds it has plenty of balls! You gotta be in 5th, can a tuner help at all??

Not to start the whole manual/automatic debate again, but here is an example of where the manual gives you more control.

In my prior post I wasn't saying that I was doing 65-70 @ 2000RPM....I was talking about the rattle at 2000 RPM. Besides when I turn off the O.D. adn down shift, I will move, but i am affraid that will rip the arse out of my transmittion.....

I am sure some mods will have to be done to get the desired results. As for the Manual, you ar dead on it does give you way more control, but unfortunately living in So.Cal adn this being my daily driver, the Manual would most likely do my head in...

Are you sure there isn't something wrong with your car? I've got the V6 auto and at 75MPH if I punch it, I get a lot of power. It seems to me that the GT should do even better. You might ask your dealer's service department about it because that doesn't seem right to me.

Even when you punch it, it should kick out of overdrive and haul ass. I would get it checked out.

Guys:

I have a 2005 GT w/Auto and the standard gear. While entering the expressways in Chicago, I get up to 90 MPH before I merge and have to slow down to meet up with the traffic...

Even though these automatics will lag upon downshifting, if I shift back to 3rd and hit the gas pedal, I almost lose a pants full from the exceleration...

I shift back into drive after I hit 90 or 100 MPH just to save gas...

Nothing wrong I my opinion... D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I have the auto, and don't have this problem. I drove it home from the dealer last week after service, on the freeway for seventy miles, and ended up using the flippin' cruise control to keep from creeping up to 85! (speed limit was 65 and there were cops all over--actually saw a guy who blew by me at 80 get stopped). The thing goes like hell at any speed. I'd have it checked out.
