Default My horror story

When does it end!
On top of all the other curve ***** life throws at you this one struck me out. Wife is due to have the baby next month, credit cards are maxed and today following my wife home after picking her car up from the dealer I broke my f###ing crankshaft. I was just getting ready to hit 2nd gear when all of sudden I hear this loud bang and the car dies (WTF) tried to restart it but nope. So I pull over onto a side street, just making it off of the main road (thank god) get out of the car pop the hood and look down to see only my S/C belt. After further inspection it felt like someone kicked me right in the gut when I saw the crank/S/C pulley just angled down towards the ground [&o]. So I had it towed to my mechanics shop for the confirmation and sure enough the crank is broke right at the front of the block. I'm still in shock so any advise to help me think a little clearer about what do or expect for repairswould really help.

Not trying to be an ******* here but:

What did you expect with 500RWHP and not being forged (if you didn't add it to your sig, I apologize)

First, sorry about that ugly misfortune...

Since you have a SC, forget about waranty.
This happened to me on a motorcylce a long time ago.
The cause was vibration due to the balancer getting loose.

If your pulley/balancer are out of wack, you're on burrowed time.

This will be a good time to put forged internals, since you have to open the motor.

Good luck man.

Makes me wonder just how "safe" even 430-440whp is on stock internals. It's not like 500 is a ginormous amount more.

500 is quite a bit more than 430-440 range

If you recognize that much, then you already learned your lesson and way ahead of yesterday.

I would investigate why the crankshaft broke at the end, by the pulley, when driving cool (I assume).
Don't leave question marks...
