first off if you need to rebuild the plastic I agree with the Duramix 4040

Second, I did not have to modify anything to get my subs to fit so now I am puzzled. I swapped them over a year ago so sorry no pics.

great input there....

the only problem is that the cutout that i had to make to get the sub to fit was a process of elimnination type of thing....i had to remove a piece here and a piece there until the sub finally fit the way it should....because of this process, there are no remains of what once was.....so now i have to resort to something else to fill i nthe hole....

Z06killer, i just performed this installation yesterday....there is not way in Gods good name that you would be able to install the Pioneer Premier Shallow 8" sub into a 2005 mustang front door sub enclosure without modifying the enclosure...maybe you dont have an 05 or newer model, im not sure....but for an 05 and up, you will need to modify the enclosure or else the sub will not fit....if you do have an 05 or newer model, did you install yours yourself?....

i will have pics up showing that these will not fit unless you modify the enclosure....

Yes I have an '06 and yes I did the install myself. Yes they are the same Pioneer's as in the pic you provided and I eve modified and re-used the stock grills! You will have to show me where you cut, because I know for a fact that I did not cut anything other than the grill trim ring.

I guess there is the slight possibility that the previous owner may have swapped it before I did, but if he did then he returned everything to stock when he was done!

I found this pic of the back of the sub I have

its not my pic but the sub is the same

this would seal the speaker off and give you better sound.

this is just one of them, you can probably get them for cheaper and maybe shallow ones from other places.

I have Memphis 8" syncs in my doors. I do not have any pics or anything but I am still using the factory grilles.

Honestly when i changed mind to fosgates i lost alot of the boominess and it became much tighter, almost like a mid woofer and not a sub. That was fine cause the door doesnt rattle and i have a 12 JL in the back anyway. I dont think you are going to ever get the quality you are looking for but you do need to seal the sub up again.

Do you need to replace the amps when you put in the Pioneer shallow sub? I have an 08 with a blown rear left speaker and the shaker 1000 and was going to replace the rears with pioneer 6x8s, and the door subs with the pioneers.

No need to replace the amp although I am sure it would never hurt to add alittle more power!

I however am running the stock shaker 500 deck and amp
