Default M&H Racemasters drag radials

I posted this in the tires section but had no replies....

Looking to put a 275/50/17 on my stock 8" wheels for the track. Ive heard from a few that this will be OK even though the tire companyrecommends a 9" width. The tread width is 8.8" for this tire. Do you guys think this will be safe for the track only?

M&H Racemasters run very small. I'm running the 325/45/17 on a 17x9 and they're smaller width than my 295/45/18 Nitto's. The 275/50/17 fit perfectly on the stock 17x8 wheels, and don't let anyone tell you any different.

You should be fine. I run the same size on a set of 04 gt rims and I was told those are 8 inch wide. The sidewall will bow out a bit but on lowered air pressure will be fine, just no hi speed cornering.
