Default RE: Change Differential oil

Just one note to add to this, about friction modifier. If Amsoil gear lube is used, you must use Amsoil Slip lok additive. I tried Amsoil Severe Gear, which is suppose to have a modifier in it. It chattered almost right away. Put in an additive from Oreillys and the chatter went away for only two weeks.
So I changed the whole damn thing out again, used Amsoil Slip lok, and havent had a problem since.

Does you father have an aftermarket Panhard rod? Does it fit with the cover?

I bought the "slip lok "wasn't sure if I needed it, I figured it would be worse to need it and not use it , than to use it and not need it.

Get all the bolts in and then torque them in an X pattern (sorry, forgot the torque spec...its not much though).
Its 33 ft/lbs...just did a gear install today. XD

I have a stock panhard rod, and just by sliding under the car and holding up the FRPP girdle/diff cover it looks like it should fit no problem. I'm having that and 4.10's put in Thursday I'll let you know if they have problems.

This looks extreamly difficult and risky to do yourself.

I have around 12k miles on my 2008 GT and plan to get both the transmission and diff changed at 15k miles at the dealer. I think the price is going to be around $250.

While I can do the transmission myself my thoughts are that if there are issues at this point (I have an auto) I would rather have the ford dealer see it and stand by their work so a warranty repair would be undisputed. As for the diff its a lot of work and I'm not up to it. Besides problems there could be almost as expensive if not covered by the warranty.

Currently I am using Valvoline to do my Oil and use their best syn oil.

I have have an aftermarket panhard rod, although now that I think about it, I don't know why it would matter. I am going to change my diff and trans fluid soon and thought that the FRPP cover would be a sensible change since I have to take the stock cover off anyway.
