Hand Held Torch? Need help ASAP
#12
Old old thread, but I had to do this again over the weekend.
Use a MAP torch (available from Sears, Lowes, Home Despot). It WILL get the hanger hot enough to bend easily. Once it turns red hot, use a hammer/mallet and pound it into the shape you want. However, this works well with 409/304 stainless. Do NOT do it on aluminized steel because it removes the aluminized coating causing it to corrode faster.
I tried using a long open ended wrench but it applies too much force on the welds to my liking.
