Default New Mustang with Employee discount

I'm thinking about buying a used 00-04 Mustang GT. But my grandpa offered me the employee discount "x" plan I think and he said with all the rebates it would go down a lot. So I've decided to check out the new GT's.

What do you guys think a new 2008 GT Premium would run at with the plan and rebates involved? Has anybody done this before? What do new GT's sell for normally with rebates involved? When is the best time to buy?

Thanks!!

I've seen the dealers around here advertising that they'll do $5k off sticker, which to me means that's a starting point.

You can probably get the same price from just about any dealer. Doesn't Ford have a sale one right now? Employee price for everyone?

The advantage to the X plan is that the dealer can't add on all the junk they like add: paperwork fee, dealer prep fee, etc. It saves a few hundred.

If you can get the X plan, I'd wait until Ford is offering a rebate. Then get the X plan price, no added fees, and the rebate. I did that in March.

I work for a Ford dealership, the employee pricing Ford is offering is on F series trucks only, doesn't include mustangs. If you can get X plan, you'll be a little under invoice, before rebates. There are some good rebates on the 08's right now, you will probably save a total of $5,000 to $6,000 off MSRP with rebates and X plan. Also, don't forget, most likely you will also be paying tax, title, and licence fees.

P.S. If you finance through Ford, you'll probably get more rebates!

Anymore questions...

jowep55, My Job also offers us the X-plan discount. And the X-plan seem's to save you more, the more to car cost as for gt's go a gt coupe(deluxe) msrp starts at $26,240 the x-plan will bring it down to $24,585. And the Premium goes for $27,420 and the x-plan will bring that to $25,643.
Those prices are before t.t.t., rebates, or any options added on the car. Those numbers are for 08 models. The best thing for you to do is ask your grandpa for a PARTNER CODE, this is not his pin that would be used at the dealer. The Partner code is a code that is company specific and it can be used a www.fordpartner.com once the code is entered you will be able to view and ford, mercury, lincoln, and even jag, mazda, etc. at the x-plan price and it will show you any rebates that are currently offered. for example I could get a 2008 GT Prem. for $24,143. But I could get a 2007 GT Prem for $21,673. That's because the 08 have a $1500 rebate after xplan pricing while the 07 model have a $3500 rebate.
Damn after typing this a want to go find me a 07 Grabber GT

I just bought an 2008 Mustang GT with the premium upgrades including the ambient lighting and 18" Chrome bullittsabout 4 weeks ago. The sticker was at $30,500 and with rebates i was able to get it at $28,600. My dad gets the supplier discount which would have made the price at $29,000 which you could not use the rebates with the discounts. Either way it is worth every penny. Best advice to give would be to shop around. At this point dealerships will do anything to sell a car.

Well I went to the dealer, found a mustang with retail price 28645, invoice with xplan went down to 26764, and rebates totaling $2750 cash off. With a price of $24k around. Do you think I could get a better deal haggling with the dealer and taking the rebates rather than taking the x plan with the rebates? Whats the usual price range you can haggle on a new car?
