Quick transmission question??? Are there suppose to be any vent holes in the tranny up near the block or any holes at all in the tranny??
Judging by the "Stock" 3.55 gears I'm assuming you are a manual tranny?

Manual tranny's can have holes in them. Typcially in two places.

1) Bell housing on the bottom where you can see the Ring Gear and part of the flywheel. These are inspection holes.
2) Top of the tranny may have a snout or tube with a cap on it. This cap covers the vent hole and keeps garbage from getting into it and also restricts any fluid to come out of it. This allows any air bubbles created during high RPM operation to dissapate faster.

Here is a pic I took. I have never seen it there before. I am having some major vibration issues and I am lost on where it is. I saw this and thought something wrong. I have to install my stock airbox and tune and bring it to the dealership. I know they are going to say exhaust, but I tightened everything with a ratchet plus a cheater bar to ensure everything was good.

Maybe I should be more clear on what the issue I am having. When I give it gas, there is a vibration, which seems is coming from the exhaust, x pipe area. I thought maybe the x pipe hanger hitting the crossmember, but there is clearance. Check o2 sensors, good and tight. It is only when I give it gas. Talk about a kick in the mouth, 1700 miles and already starting.... When I bring it to the dealership, think it would be cool to leave the Hurst installed?? I know they are going to ask who put it in.

I have added a pic of the tranny, can anyone confirm that this belongs there. The hole is not of perfect size and has jagged edges, so that is what concerns me. Anyone have any input on this???

Ok thanks a lot, that ends that mystery. Oh well, going to the dealership in the morning to see if they can find any issues causing the noise. Thanks guys

Its jagged in looks because its an unmachinedraw sand casting surface.
Its normal. Its a drain/ring gear inspection hole of sorts. Not your source
of vibration.

I thought the same as you when I first saw the hole in my tranny... made a post and it seems that its normal..it did scare me though.
