87 tune to 91 tune with CAI HP gains...
Right now i have the diablosport 87 octane tune in my car, from what i have found it looks like it gives my car another 10HP and 15lbs or torque. I'm considering adding the 91 tune to my car, as i hear you get even better gas mileage, so the helps with the extra cost of the fuel. I'm also considering adding a K&N CAI if i run the 91 tune. So what do you think my car would gain over stock with the 91 tune, and then the 91 tune with the K&N CAI. I was thinking something like..
diablosport 87 tune - 10HP gain over stock
diablosport 91 tune -15-17HP gain over stock
diablosport 91 tune with K&N CAI - 22-25HP gain over stock
what do you think?

diablosport 91 tune -15-17HP gain over stock
diablosport 91 tune with K&N CAI - 22-25HP gain over stock
what do you think?

Ditch the Diablosport tune and get a tune from Bamachips, they're only $50 and they're worth it. I went from their 91 octane tune to a Bamachips 91 octane race tune and the difference was pretty noticable.
You'll probably gain another 5-10 hp from the K&N.

Well AmericanSpeed ran 12's with nothing but the K&N CAI and a Mailorder VMP Tune so I would say they are defiantely worth a look.
I did the same with a JLTII and Bamachips Mailorder Tune.
While many will tell you the K&N is to small in my opinion its not on a basically stock engine.
Justin at VMP was shocked when he got one on the dyno and saw it putting out the numbers it did.
I think K&N new exactly what they were doing when they designed that intake.
Just make sure you match the tune to the K&N MAF Tube Size.
If you use a 93 octane tune designed for the MAF tube in the stock air box with the K&N it will be lean.

with the K&N intake and a 91 tune, your guess of 22-25 HP gain is probably pretty accurate. I just had an AEM Brute Force intake installed (also a supposed no-tune/same size MAF housing as stock) and dynotuned for 93 octane. I told the tuner to be a litle bit conservative on the tune as I don't race much, and I came in at 287 RWHP. So you wouldprobably be in that ballpark with the K&N and a decent tune.

RE: 87 tune to 91 tune with CAI HP gains...
According to Doug, there is around a 3-6 RWHP difference between the different octane tunes. So if you dyno at 280 with Bamas 87 tune you will probally dyno around 286-292 with the 91 tune. If you are running 91 to get better gas milage...don't. The 1-2 mpg difference, if that, is not worth the extra 20-30 cents per. gal. Instead of getting a K&N intake order a JLT or C&L from Bamachips. When you order an intake from them, you get three free tunes. Now if you get a K&N and want tunes you still have to pay $50 per. tune. So JLT+3 three tunes is about 200-$225. K&N with 3 tunes is $150+ the cost of the K&N.

I would not recommend the K&N CAI, they make very conservative intakes. If the price is similar go for a BAMA chips tune and the best intake you can find. The free tunes if you order from the companies more than make up for the price difference too.
