Boom Tubes installed, NOW aligned PERFECT!!! (updated pics)
I installed a set of Boom Tubes to my otherwise stock exhaust in the garage yesterday. It took some getting used to as they are quite a bit louder then stock. I thought I might have overdone it for my taste. But... I also had a headache yesterday. Today I drove it and it seems quieter and just about right. I was thinking about the Violators but I think I'm going to really grow to love these.
I got them from Brenspeed and one of their installers said that I might have to adjust the over the axle pipe to get it just right. Well, I'm only willing to lift up the back and I wasn't gonna crawl all that way forward and try and do it myself. This is the best I could get it: Left side looks good, but right side is just a little lower... http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f..._0026Small.jpg Left side does not stick out as far as the right. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f..._0030Small.jpg I like the right side better as far as sticking out a little more. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f..._0031Small.jpg I love the tube design. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f..._0038Small.jpg Tomorrow I'm bringing it to a muffler shop. He said he'd charge me $20-25 to align them perfectly. Worth it to me... |

Guarantee all that guy is going to do is stick a large medal rod inside the tip and bend it to straighten up...easiest and quickest way and you can do it yourself.

My left boomtube didn't line up, had to loosen the mid pipe to rotate/twist just a bit while someone watched, got them both lined up perfectly in 20 min of fiddling

My passenger side tube was lower than the driver's side after install. I still haven't fixed it yet. Not quite as bad as yours though.
You could also bend the hangers on the tubes if you wanted. As far as one sticking out further than the other you'll probably have to loosen up the midpipe and play around with it. $25 isn't to bad just to have someone else screw with it though. |
