Very helpful responses everyone - thanks...BUT...

Can someone explain to me where these sensors are located so maybe I can check them or replace them?

Also, I've heard people saying that the heat needs to be turned up on the sensors so they are heated more since they are further away from the stock location. Can someone explain to me how they are heated up? Where is this heat coming from? Is there like a special heater JUST for the sensors or something?

+1 to Howarmat, those are the sensors they are referring to. There is no extra heater people add to the long tubes lol, the heat is generated by the exhaust however I'm not sure how that translates to the tune after that

Slow response usually means you need a longer delay. (Ie the amount of time before theystart working)

Some sensors have built in heaters (electrical). In order to get them to start working faster on cold starts you can increase the voltage to the heaters (in the tune). I believe these cars have heated sensors but I could be incorrect.

There is also a transport time (not sure this is the right term) which is how long it takes the sensor to show a change after the mixture is leaned or richened. The farther downstream the sensor the longer this time.

Just a small tidbit of info to add. I dont have long tubes, I have BBK shorties. When I removed the front left O2 sensor, the threads kinda came out with it. O2 sensor could not be reused, and that manifold is worthless now. I replaced it with a Bosch sensor. MIL came on with heater circuit slow response. Replaced that sensor with another Bosch. Same thing. Got a Ford sensor and all has been well since. Dont know if it applies in your situation, no reference in the post about factory O2 sensor.

Very interesting - so, I'm wondering if I should purchase new sensors... any ideas where I can find a good price on them and which brand Ford uses??

So far I'm guessing MotorCraft and the prices are around $70.00!!! (per sensor) Geeeeeez - they made of gold or something!?!!?! [&o]

i think you can just use a rear sensor actually....just swap them out and try that for a while.....hell the worse that can happen is you throw the same code[&:]
