Default Cats or no Cats

I've gota Bassani X-pipe with the inserts for the cats. I'm thinking about taking the cats out. I've got the tunes needed already so I dont have any CEL's to worry with.
I'm running 40 series Flows on the back. Will it be much louder without the cats?? Will it be loud in the passenger compartment ??
Also, i'm thinking about doing this myself. I'm thinking i'll have to undo the 02 sensors, undo the x-pipe from the manifolds and basically take the whole x-pipe off, replace the cats and then put it all back on. Does that sound right?
Thanks
Heath

From my experience from removing my cats adding the xpipe and keeping bassani mufflers the "loudness" changes at WOT does nothing at cruise.

From what I can tell has something to do with the air traveling through the straight tubes.

at WOT or engine rev is loud as $hit!! At cruise or idle its not loud at all.

I have a bassani x-pipe. I originally installed it without cats, but got tired of the smell.I eventually installed the hi-flow cats. It was really easy. I just loosened the bolts on the cat portion and removed the leg only. There is no need to remove the entire x-pipe.

The sound is definetely different. Driving on the highway I had to elevate my conversation without the cats, but not as much with the hi-flows.

I do miss the sound when running cat-less, but the smell was seeping into the house and getting too much.

Its probaly gonna be a PITA to undo thats for sure! heat has a tendency to practically weld those slip joints together. It will bemuch louder without cats and your flows will be raspy as all hell! I had flows with the cats on my bassani Xand hated the raspiness. never tried the strait pipes ..had my cats welded on, but know some that have and they said its areal bitch to switch out
