All the rest I can take off with just my hand.
Kind of too late, but I would have done that 1st oil change a little sooner.

RE: First Oil Change Question
The factory oil filter is put on with a factory type of torque gun. After experiencing my first oil change on my new 93 Ford Ranger, I used that experience prior to doing my new 08 GT. I purchased oil filter pliers. They have teeth on them and bite hard into the filter. Believe me it was still a fight to get it off but with some tight squeezing and slowly turning it, it was free. I changed my oil at 1400 miles on it to Amsoil. I also performed an oil analysis on the oil and it showed typical signs of a new engine during break-in so it was important to change the oil when I did instead of going the 5k factory recommendation. I didn't want all the metals and silicon floating in the oil. I plan on changing itat 5k and sample the oil again.

RE: First Oil Change Question
+1 about the factory oil filter being a pain in getting off. Took about 1/2 hour just to get it off, not including a ride to a local store to buy a diff wrench than what I already had!

RE: First Oil Change Question
Yeah it is amazing how many people are convinced of this new 3000 mile oil change interval. Seems that none of us ever followed 3K miles until the instant lube palces starting spreading the word...
Our own manuals recommend 7500 for dino. And I am comfortable on that schedule (although I always change at 500-1000 miles on a brand new car). I have run synthetic for a few years and would run 10-12k on it. Oil analysis still proves it is very capable of protecting the motor. My concern at 12k is the filter.
We seem to do everything to excess...so to each his own. Europeans arguably push their cars VERY hard and 7-10k is normal on dino and 15-20k on synthetic is the norm. They seem to get by just fine.
Then again, my old man's Mustangs never see 1k on an oil change...go figure.

My manual doesn't say 7500.

im sure the manual says "5000" under the normal section, and "3000" under the dusty, towing, ect. section
im sure the manual says "5000" under the normal section, and "3000" under the dusty, towing, ect. section
The "Special Operating Conditions" exception is listed as:
Towing (nope)
Extensive idling (nope)
Driving on dusty roads (nope)
Off-road operation (nope)
Use of E85 more than 50% of the time (nope).
Under "Normal" which is most of us (or it would not be called normal) it recommends 7,500 miles. Time is not mentioned. Since oil keeps for, well, ever...time really means nothing.
Under "Special Operating Conditions" it recommends 5,000 miles.
This is straight out of the 2008 Ford Maintenance Manuel that came with my car.
