Default CONVERTIBLE TOP WARRANTY

I have had my 2008 convertible for 10 months and after opening the door just like I would any other car, the driver side window has worn a hole in the piping of the top. The window drops like it is supposed to but evidently not quickly enough not to hit the top. Anyone else had this problem? I'm taking it in today for an oil change - this will be covered under warranty won't it? I know it excludes wear but come on.....

i think someone else had similar trouble on an '06 and had it replaced under warranty with no problem. "Normal wear" is excluded, but chafing wear on a ragtop is a defect.....

There is a TSB for the convertible top on the o5's and 06's. The 1st rib would rub against the top and and it would wear a small hole on the top. The TSB has the dealer replacing the top and then placing tape on the ends of the ribs so it does not rub against the top

i noticed this rubbing the first day i had mine. when i open the door i always pull the latch then wait a second before opening the door - giving the window enough time to lower. kind of a pain but you get used to it, not a big deal.

On my car even if I pause after pulling the handle before opening the door it still rubs and has rubbed a hole in the piping. I was wondering what the dealer told the OP about his car.

If anyone has a picture of the convertible top wear issue, please post it. Also, I have a question. If a TSB on an issue has been issued, does that only cover through the end of the 3/36 factory warrenty or does it cover damage that may occur after the factory warrenty hasexpired?

The dealership says it's covered under warranty but still waiting on Ford to say whether they are replacing the entire top or repairing the spot on the piping. Bad part is that because I'm in a rural area the upholsterer is 50 miles away.

Any news on the top yet? Is ford going to replace it for you? Could you post some pictures of the damage?

Thx.

I talked to the dealership today - supposedly their Ford rep was out last week because of the holiday so they expect to get an answer this week. First picture is the hole up close, second shows where the window hits.
