Got a new clutch

Got the Spec 3+ installed and reused the factory flywheel. WOW is all I can say about this clutch! It's the clutch the car should have had factory! The ride is a little rough right now, but I can feel it smoothing out as the clutch is breaking in. I'd recommend this clutch to anyone looking to upgrade!

RE: Got a new clutch

Took them 6 hours labor because they had problems getting the clutch to bleed properly...so it cost $600 install counting the machining of the flywheel

Sweet, i got a Spec 1 sitting in my trunk waiting to go in. Is there any reason you didnt throw in an alu flywheel? -Jon

Aluminum flywheels are something to stay away from IMO. The installer told us that the aluminum flywheels do help the engine rev faster because well it is less weight to rotate and you'll make some more power, BUT you will lose drivability because the engine will be very VERY responsive and will always be wanting to pull. since my car is a DD I wanted a smooth ride and he said that the steel flywheel that i have will provide a comfortable ride and is plenty strong enough. The pedal feel is not much different and the travel is MUCH shorter (gah I love it!) and it engages much much better and a lot harder. Car is a little jerky right now, but it is supposed to go away with the breaking in of the clutch with the 500 mile break in period of changing gears. I already notice a much better difference from the 60 miles I've drove it since yesterday.

After turning the factory flywheel did they have any issues getting the clutch throw right?
Was the supplied shim the right thickness or did the have torepull the trans and reshim?

RE: Got a new clutch

They got the throw on it right and they shortened it a little bit too and replaced the throw out bearing. I don't know about the shim...but from what they've told me they just bled the clutch, machined the flywheel, and bolted up the clutch, and rebled it.
