Default Is this a reasonable install quote?

I just got a install quote from one of the areas best mustang performance shops. Justwant to throw a quote by you guys, which I though wasn't very bad.

Here are the following performance upgrades:

Ford Racing Shorty Headers
Magnaflow True X Pipe
Steeda Underdrive pulleys
Ford Racing 3:73 gears
Royale Purple Oil change

I have ALL of the parts, so labor is going to be $1000.00, Sound reasonable.....or NOT? Car will be at the shop for two days.

Thanks guys.

Ford Racing Shorty Headers - minimum $200 install
Magnaflow True X Pipe - minimum $70 install
Steeda Underdrive pulleys - minimum $50 install
Ford Racing 3:73 gears - minimum $375 install
Royale Purple Oil change - minimum $50

Prices are absolute minimum you will find. X-pipe, oil change, & pulleys= very easy install
Gears & headers = PITA install

If the shop is the best in the area $800-$1,000 sounds good-OK.

sounds a smidge high...

i would figure
shorty headers - 5 hours
x pipe - 1 hour
u/d pulleys - 2 hours
gears - 2.5 hours
oil change - 1 hour

figure $75/hr

id say it should be around $850-$900

probably not that bad considering they are a good shop, it is worth the extra $100 to get it done right...go for it

We agree.

Also, most shops will charge a smidge more when you do not buy the parts from them.

I purchased all the parts from Jegs, they have, by far, the best prices, PERIOD. And....I know that the oil change and pulleys I could do myself, but for a few extra bucks, I'd rather have it done at the shop while they havethe carand save myself the aggrivation. Thanks for the feedback, I have the car going in the shop in two weeks...[sm=happy046.gif]

It's a few hundred more than it should be. Barter and deal them down, or go elsewhere.

Default RE: Is this a reasonable install quote?

If a shop charged me 1 hour labor for an oil change I would never go back there.. or even 30 mins.. most places will do it for like $20.. honestly, I'd do the UDP and oil change myself and get a new quote for just gears + headers (xpipe goes with the headers but i suppose you have to factor in a few more minutes to fasten it in there, the stock H would already be removed before installing the headers anyway since they wont fit otherwise)

I got a quote on headers/hpipe for $400 and I was told $300 is standard price for gear install. the extra 300 they are asking is probably for the oil change, udps, and a bit high on the other 2 installs.
