Default car swimmin thru the revs

Noticed the rpm needle swimming when it's not in gear. bounces between 1k and 500 rpms like it's about to stall and then catches itself. All I did was fill up my tank. What might cause this?

Surging at idle?

Could be bad gasoline. I had that happen to my old Honda once. Filled up at a different station next time and never had the problem again.

Bad gas, huh? Hopefully that's it, but it's the only gas station I use. It's the one on post and 30 cents cheaper than the ones outside.

mine does the same thing...but only if i start the car and start moving quickly. If I let the car idle for a moment it doesn't happen.

now that i think about it, sometimes after i start up and go to drive (leaving the parking lot at work) for the first 40 feet or so the car lurks and leaps, but only after starting it and only for this short amount of time.... odd, only has happened since i got the tune and mufflers....

my bros eclipse did that but it was a bad IAC or somin like that but it only did it after you romped on it and hit full boost alot if you take it easy it wont happen. Also i think that happend to my step brother when he had a 96 monte carlo got bad gas from costco and it basicly killed the car/

Probably not bad gasoline then. When my civic was doing this it would happen all the time even after warmup. Eventually it would stall out if I let it just sit there and surge over and over.

As far as the car being "jerky" before it warms up. Happens to mine as well. I don't think you'll notice that as much if you have an auto. The throttle seems *really* touchy with my manual driving on a cool engine.
