Saleen broke down...
I'm tired and it's been a long day, but here arethe Cliff's Notes:
I was 45 miles into a 50 mile trip when all of the sudden I started getting a nasty grinding noise from under the hood.
I pulled over to find coolant leaking from the over flow tank so badly it sprayed the belt.
This caused it to throw the belt and I assume that was where the noise was coming from.
Does anyone have an idea as to what can cause it? My first thought was bad headgasket, but the car never over heated. (Unless the stock gauge is wrong.)
What a day

Without knowing exactly what mods you have and exactly what the gauges were doing at the time, was it showing hot on the gauge? did check engine light come on? Do you have a saleen sc? or just a saleen body kit?
Could be something as simple as the thermousstadt (or however its spelled) going bad. Do you use any additives in the radiator? some can clog it up over time. Did you fire her up after she cooled off? If so and if you still hear grinding it could be the water pump gone bad. I can't view your pics from my military computer.

The car is an S281 with a S Trim Vortech on it.
The coolant temp gauge showed well within the normal range.
No additives to the radiator.
I didn't restart the car because I didn't have a way to pull the belt off and put it back on properly.
