RE: Gears 3.73 vs 4.10
I personally would stay away from the 4.10 if you do any amount of Highway driving .... although the RPM difference isn't that much ..
Using this calculator:
http://www.csgnetwork.com/multirpmcalc.html
Automatic in O.D. doing 70 MPH
3.73: 2300 RPM
4.10: 2500 RPM

I like my 3.73s, its a good all around gear, and your gonna notice the difference changing from the 3.31 that you have now. I know i sure as hell did!

And really how much can I shorten my engine's life by flooring it occasionally anyways I mean isnt that was its built for I always thought not maintaining your engine (oil) or running lean / rich and stuff like that is what killed the engine life. Not doing burnouts in the parking lot every friday [&:]

RE: Gears 3.73 vs 4.10
I put 4.10's in my 07 Auto GT last week, ( along with a CAI tune and UDP's)a totally different car itrocks!RPM jumps about 400, however I never feel if I am in the wrong gear when I want to "jump on it". Round town mileage is about the same and lost about 3-4 mpg on the highway (I also drive with a light foot on the highway. I considered both and wound up with the 4.10's). I do a mix of 50/50 city and highway. I looked at it this way if I went to buy a V6 and then drove a GT which would I buy? That was the (il)logic for me. Anyone lend the man a V6 with 4.10's for a test drive?

would cruise control at 60 give you back the mileage you lost with the gears on the HWY you think ?
on my trip to Maryland from NC I used a little under a 1/4 tank less using cc the whole way back set on 60-65 and driving behind trucks for about 1.5 hours

It hasnt bought me better mileage with using cc. Again I drive with a light foot. I expected better gas mileage but the seat of the pantsexperience surpassed my expectations, well worth it in my opinion. I just wish I had done it sooner. There is a great tuner inNorthen VAthat installed my gears let me know if you need a name and number.

I want gears, but I'm afraid that 4.10's would make 1st gear virtually useless and my car would become a 4-speed.
