Default aluminum driveshaft???

Been thinking long and hard about getting an aluminum driveshaft. Are they worth the money?? I want to know if you can really feel the difference?, also approximate cost of install? What are some of the negatives(besides the money)?

in regards do your question, from what i've read here on the forum, getting an alum d/s will reduce the rotating mass and decreases the amount of HP loss due to friction since it's 1 piece. so you'll be putting down more of the flywheel HP to the ground. as far as feeling it, i can't vouch since i still have the stock.

also, depending on how much you've dropped the car is if you want a 3.5 or 4 inch d/s. if you are at stock height (which i doubt since i see you have the eibach system) then either diameter will be fine. but if you're dropped, the 4 inch will hit the ground.

Don't see how the 4 inch could possibly hit the ground. I have the Coast Driveline 4 inch and am very pleased. Install was a piece of cake, meaning you should be able to do it yourself. I believe TacoBill did a How-To on it. You might (you should) get an an adjustable UCA being that your car is lowered. That will get rid of any vibrations.

The aluminum is definitely worth it. I have the 4" Shaftmasters and the car is completely different. Got rid of the shakes from the stock driveshaft, and the car accelerates quicker.

On a dropped car it isn't the 4" hitting the ground, rather the 4" will hit the car and rub the emergency brake line.

it can also rub the floor pan, nothing that can't be fixed with a big hammer.

i just put a spyder d/s on my car and i love it...took a while to install due to lack of equipment and being prepared. before you install it yourself, get you a harmonic balancer puller, loctite, a 27mm socket, torque wrench, impact wrench, 12mm (12 point!!!) socket and you are ready to go.

if i had to do it again, i could replace the driveshaft in about an hour, no problems...
