auto conversion
I was just wondering cost and trouble on converting my 06 auto GT into a5 speed. Before you start wondering why I bought an auto if i wanted a 5 speed heres the story. I got it in 06 when they did 0% financing and there were no 5 speeds left anyone on the east coast. So it was either take it or leave it. I enjoy the auto but sometimes I would rather get into with a 5 speed. So is there anywhere in NC that can do this. How much would it cost and how hard and is it even worth it.

RE: auto conversion
Not even worth it on the newer computer controlled vehicles.
All sorts of obsticals to overcome. You would need a doner vehicle to start with. |
RE: auto conversion
I had a company in georgia said they would do it for 2,850. Not sure if it would be worth it.

RE: auto conversion
i saw a 6 speed in one of the mustang magazines for like $3500, if i were you id check places like newtakeoff or try to find a wrecked 5 speed mustang and take it from that.
i have no clue how much it would cost to get it installed |
RE: auto conversion
Talk to Josh and Kevin @ PMPParts.com
They can anwser some questions for you i think, but unless you got extra cash lying around, you can sell yours and get another for cheaper than the cost to do the swap |
RE: auto conversion
the only thing would kill me is not getting 0% financing or else i would love to trade it in.

RE: auto conversion
did you forget the cost of having to install a clutch in the car too?
Not worth it. Just trade it or sell it and buy what you want. There are hundreds of thousands of mustangs made each year. Look a little harder and there is no way you can't find what you want. |
RE: auto conversion
All Mustang Perf. here in phoenix will do it for 6500$ that is everything or a 6speed tremec for 7500$ of course you are at the other end of the country tho.

RE: auto conversion
That swap is definitely not worth the cash and trouble.
If you have 0% financing then you should have pretty good equity in your current car. Trade it in, dealers are begging for business right now and you would find a sweet deal. I had considered swapping my WB for a torch red and Richmond Ford was going to sell me one for $24,500, sticker was $31,450, hell of a deal!! Look around you might even get them to throw you 0% again. |
