Before you buy new mufflers
There are so many freaking muffler posts on here it is out of control. I thought I'd make a suggestion to help some of you novice modders out a bit...
...because novice modders turn in to professional modders after the addiction sets in.
If you're eventually going to put LT headers on your ride, save yourself a few bucks and don't replace your mufflers yet. You can put that $ towards the LT's and get more HP out of the deal!
Your exhaust will sound so much better and you still won't have any drone. I wish someone told me this because after all my modding, the car gotobnoxiously for a daily driver. So, I put the stockers back on and love it.

I installed FRPP Stingers a couple of weeks back and the sound still gives me shivers! Gad, I love the sound! I'm still driving around with the radio off and the windows down, even in 90 degree heat!

RE: Before you buy new mufflers
I agree completely with the original post. I have long tube headers with high flow cats and an x-pipe. I put them on about a year ago and continued to use the stock mufflers. Since my only goal was power output I choose this route because the stock mufflers flow as well as just about all the other choices out there. The stock mufflers sounded really good with my setup and I had zero drone.
It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that I swapped out the stock mufflers for the FRPP M-5230-GTAs and only because I really like the tips. A bonus was that these mufflers sound great with the LT setup I have.
Basically the only reason to change the stock mufflers is if you want to change the sound or look of the tips. No power to be gained.
