Is this a safety issue if you don't take care of it?
I'd think its putting extra wear and tear on the wheels, lugs, and tires. I doubt anything will break. I'm taking mine off as soon as I get home from work.
I have the same problem. Had them road force balance and still had the problem. The retaining ring was removed and still got the steering vibration. The mechanic said he thought he saw a hop in the wheel. I called the vendor about the problem and had to have the balance done again on the suspect wheel and get the radial and lateral statistics from the road force balance. I will give them a call tomorrow.
I replaced my LCA's and removed mine in the process. The easiest way for me to get them off is with a pair of dikes. Makes it easy to grab 'em and pull 'em off!!
my question is, why would it only start vibrating after a wheel rotation? after i installed my aftermarket wheels, it was fine. but once i rotated them, i'm getting the shimmy! sounds like several others have had the same scenario after a rotation
Just a guess here.
I would say that with the new wheels and tires it was not noticable. As the tires started to wear due to the clip they smoothed out and any wobble was gone.
Rotate the tires and if the clip is on the the opposite side the problem is now twice as bad and now is noticable.
broken belt in the tire, alignment, bent rim, bent hub, unbalanced tire, warped rotor, loose wheel, bad ball joints, the list goes on and on.............
