Default Canceling the extended warranty?(it is possible right?)

how can i go about doing this? do i contact the dealer i bought the warranty from? do i contact ford ESP directly? is it even possible? i seem to remedmber people saying you could drop the plan.

i'd like to keep it, but its over 1,000 on my credit card that i need to free up to do some home repairs so i dont really have a choice.

Yes, contact the dealer first. They are the ones that make big money on the extended warranty (that is why they push them so hard at the time of sale). They might not be happy about canceling it, but be persistent. Extended warranties never make financial sense (on appliances or cars or anything).

put a nice big shot of nitrous on the car and take it in for service. they'll cancel the warranty for you in a HURRY

How long have you had it. 30 days is the limit
for 100% full refund.
Read the cancellation clauses on the contract.
I cancelled mine within 30 days and got it all
back, kinda. I just had to show up for an odometer
inspection and sign a paper. It then was lost,
put on hold, forgot about, managers changed
and every other excuse you could think of.

3 months later and 100s of phone calls, I finally
got the $$ refunded to my Ford Credit account.
But not until after I paid3 months worth of
finance charges on the amount.

we bought our warranty from fordwarranties or fordwarranty.com or some crap. it was from an out of state dealer and we paid in full. because of this i got the best package with a 50.00 deductable (instead of 100) for like 1200 bucks. we bought it right before the car rolled over to the 36k mark, and it extends the plan till 75k.

i dont know if buying one after the fact changes anything... we have had the warranty for 2 or 3 months so 30 days is out of the question, but pro-rating it we would still get back a healthy chunk.

Ihate to participate in the HJ (well, not too bad), but I love my Galaxie. It is wrecked right now (not too bad) because a stupid girl with no insurance or drivers license pulled out in front of me! Saving up the money to fix it. You should look on eBay, I see good deals on Galaxies all of the time.

my77stang, keep us posted and let us know if they cancel it for you. I was wondering if anyone has found these extended warranties to be worth it.

I had no problem cancelling mine on my Explorer. All I did was call the dealer I bought it from. They mailed me a form to fill out, and I sent it back to them. All they needed to know was the mileage on the car. Then I got a prorated refund. So out of the $1800 I paid for the warranty, I got like $1300 back. They gave me absolutely no heartache about it. Especially since I had already traded the Explorer in on my Mustang. So if you don't want to listen to the dealer give you grief or anything, tell them you are trading the car.

Question...have you had the extended warranty 2 or 3 months past the stock warranty? Or are you still covered by the factory warranty? If you're covered by the factory warranty still, you should (in theory) get the entire extended warranty back since you haven't used any of it yet...
