'05 GT w/Int. Upgr Pkg - Dash failure :(
Hi, I was just curious if anyone else has had this problem if this is something common, or I was just lucky and got some low-quality, non-QA'd dash or some poor assembly job where .. who knows...
Like the title says, I've got an 05 mustang GT with the interior upgrade package dash. A couple months ago, I go out, put the key in, turn the key on, and I notice the Battery gauge doesn't move. No matter what, key on, engine running or not, the gauge is basically frozen in it's off position at the bottom of the scale. Alright great, it sucks cause it looks retarded but I can live with it. Now a couple days ago, I go out, start my car, and my TACH doesn't move. Over the next couple of starts and while driving: it moves a little bit: gets stuck a while I'm driving for a while, unstick for a bit, or move in very jerky motions and be not the correct reading. Most of the time it's either stuck at/below 0 or it moves when I first start it up to about 1grand and then sticks there even after I turn the key off.
Like I said, I could deal with the battery gauge being frozen, but the tach really angers me especially in it's intermittent fashion. Temperature and things like that don't seem to change it's flakiness. So, Why did two of my gauges on my dash break? I can see one, but two? That's really horrible QA or there is something else going on here. I don't know. If anyone has any info, had this happen to them, can suggest a fix (besides replacing the dash), please please I would be most grateful.
Thank you guys.

Ok, so actually to add to this, this morning was colder outside than it has been in a long time and today the tach seemed to work almost normal. Still slightly jerky in it's movements, but, at least kind of working. The battery gauge doesn't move at all no matter the weather still. So if this is temperature related at least for the tach ugh, what is going on? Anyone have any ideas? Or should I just shell out the cash to have the dash/tach replaced?

Sounds like a wiring problem and its make a better connection when its cold. Can you take it into ford and see whats wrong and then just fix it yourself? I dont think its hard to get to the wiring in there...
