RE: mmmmmm....GEARS....
well like the post above said 500 rpm's higher for cruising isnt very fuel efficient, i just dont want it to fall below 20 mpg and like i said i have a LOT of fun with my car and i check the mileage by pencil/paper and i get 22.5 consistently

Well, typically gears are only going to whine if they are set up incorrectly. I love how when gears whine, everyone points the finger at the gears being bad, instead of considering the fact that maybe they were were just set up wrong. I personally know quite a few people who run Motive gears with absolutely 0 problems.

You don't know the meaning of "fun with your car" until you realize how slow it is with those 3.31s. Get the 4.10s.
p.s. a prius would get you over 20mpg and you could have a LOT of with with it

RE: mmmmmm....GEARS....
I really don't know what my former or present mpg was/is. I look at the computer display sometimes and with 3.31 I remember seeing about 17.9 most of the time. Tonight after driving for a while, city and highway, it was about 19.7. I mostly drive on country roads where the speed limit is 45-55mph, so the 4.10 gears make 5th gear useful to me now, whereas before I really hated to use 5th at those speeds because the car was just too sluggish and boggy. The car feels very perky now.
If I get too worried about gas money, I'll switch to my 87 tune and save a few pennies. Otherwise, I'm driving my car.
How can a guy who spent $10,000 on his stang worry about gas mileage?

well i do a lot of highway driving and when i go off to college its about 40 minutes away, just enough that i prob would come home often and college students dont have to much money from what i hear lol...but for the most part of driving around the town i guess i could spare a couple dollars for them, plus gas has dropped 50 cents a gallon in the past 2 weeks here so

I drive about 70-75 miles per. day with about 60 hwy miles. With 4.10 gears and driving about 80 MPH on the hwy. I am avg. just over 20 MPG. HWY MPG alone at 80 MPH I get about 24 MPG.
