New edge wheels on an S197?

here for the rescue!!! lol
i asked the same question, nobody answered, so went on with it anyway and love how they sit!!!
i installed 18 fr500 on my car...they were on a 02 GT, rear is 18x10 +22mm offset...this is how they look
and this is how much the rears will stick out...
if your car is very lowered, i dont recommend this type of wheels as im sure the fender will hit the tire constantly.
but you gotta love that rear end with 305/40/18 lol.

I think it looks good. I have seen some s197s with huge rubber, but because of the fact that the wheels sit so far in the car does not accomplish a wide stance. With the 22mm offset 18x10 the car gets a wider look.

btw, darkfire, i really like the 'mustang' lettering on the trunklid; i hadn't noticed it before

yes spending the extra money is the better way to go, but the 'extra' at the moment is around $1000. you can get 17x8 new edge wheels for under $400 a set and still use the same tires. i think i have settled on doing it the 'right way', i'm just gonna have to wait longer for my new look, though . i'm planning on 18x9 anthricite shelby torq-thrust m's, but a set of those plus new tires comes to around $1400 (at tirerack anyway)... a thousand more dollars is quite a bit
